Give 4 Marion.jpg

We have lived in Marion County as retirees for 28 years. Prior to moving here, we were corporate gypsies and spent time living in several communities in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

We were introduced to the Kingdom of the Sun Band (KOS) early on after moving to Ocala. We were amazed at the quality and talent that this group exhibited and has continued to do so. It is an all-volunteer group of local musicians. Its members range in age from 14 to 90.

We have attended concerts around the world and even paid as much as $200 each for some of them. The KOS orchestra is, amazingly, a “free event!” It depends on contributions for its operation. KOS is a community-based orchestra with high quality sound and a diverse genre of music for all ages. And, as we said, the best part is all the concerts are free.

If you are new to the area, or just haven’t heard about the KOS orchestra, attend one of their free concerts. We know you won’t be disappointed.

We’ve been going to Kingdom of the Sun concerts for about five years.  We especially love the concerts at Veterans Memorial Park; they seem like an old fashioned community band and the events wouldn’t be complete without you.  Your musicians are very accomplished and professional.
