I would like to ask the officers for the following:during set up for a concert, there should be a "Stage manager." Someone who knows everything that needs to be done, where things are, who needs help and who doesn't need help. Right now, we have a lot of eager helpers who don't know who to help/what to help with, etc. The people in charge of Percussion have got things under control (I've always said a percussionist needs the heart of a musician and the arms of a forklift) and the folks in charge of "Sound" know what they are doing. It's not so much a question of the minutia, but someone needs to see the big picture and send help to the right places. At the school, we also need a woman with a plan. I am getting frustrated when I have the clarinet section well along with being set up until the Bass players and Trombone players grab the chairs and stands I set up for the clarinets. I'm not supposed to be doing a lot of lifting. I can handle chairs and stands one at a time. I end up doing a lot and accomplishing nothing. We need someone with some muscle to bring over a rack of chairs and stands, and I can't do that anymore. Instead of a Drum Major, we need a chair major.Thanx
